High-ethylene grades are more flexible due to ethylene plasticization, which reduces crystallinity and enhances low-temperature impact strength (up to 82 kJ/m² at -40°C).

 

2.2 Moisture Sensitivity: The Hidden Variable

At >0.3% moisture, 32 mol% EVOH polymer grades can see OTR rise to 0.25 cc/m²·day—5× above compliance thresholds.

 

44 mol% grades, under the same conditions, only rise to 0.55.
